Boss Nass is a large, amphibian Gungan character from the Star Wars prequel trilogy. He first appeared in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (1999).
Nass is the bombastic and often stubborn leader of the Gungan people, a species native to the planet Naboo. He resides in the underwater city of Otoh Gunga.
Initially resistant to helping the Naboo humans due to their historical isolation, Nass eventually agrees to an alliance with Queen Amidala, leading the Gungan army in a diversionary battle against the Trade Federation droid army. This allows Amidala to capture the Trade Federation viceroy and end the invasion of Naboo.
